Leaf Rubbing art

Before all the leafs have fallen and crumbled or blown away grab a little pile and head to the art table with your preschooler. Leaf rubbings are a fun and easy project that allows preschoolers to explore cause and effect while discovering textures and creating art all at once. The trick to success with leaf rubbings is to use leafs that are not too brittle and make sure the spine (back side) of the leaf is facing up.

All you need to make a leaf rubbing is a leaf, a piece of paper and a crayon with the paper removed. Sometimes smaller crayons work best as they are easier for preschoolers to maneuver over their word space when holding on their side.
