We love hunting for rocks and sticks and bugs, but then what do we do with our found treasures? In my house, we paint our rocks! It’s fun to explore the different rock shapes and then add our own pretty colors, funny faces and colorful patterns with paint.
What you need:
- Rocks
- Watercolor paints
- Paintbrush
- Bowl of water
- Paper towel or newspaper
Make it:
- Prepare the paints
- Wash and towel dry the rocks
- Prepare your work space – make sure to cover the space with newspaper or paper towel – or be prepared to wash paint off the table
- Wet the paint brush
- Dip brush in paint color
- Apply color to rock
- Rinse color off of the brush before using another color
- Let dry
Tips:
- Use the paper towel/newspaper to dab water off the brush
- An adult can spray the rocks with a clear varnish to protect the color
